A big step forward for the South Park Bridge

Community leaders and neighbors gathered together this morning to celebrate a major milestone in the replacement of the South Park Bridge: completion of the Environmental Impact Study.

This means that all effects of the project have been considered and approved so that it is now "shovel ready"!

The study was signed near the bridge at 10:30 a.m. Dan Mathis, federal highway administrator, Washington division, is pictured above in the overcoat.

King County is seeking funding for the South Park Bridge Project through a federal TIGER grant. They expect to find out whether they receive the $99 million grant in February.
