Reminder: South Park Bridge closes tonight with celebrations | Events

At 7 p.m. tonight the South Park Bridge will rise for a final time before it is closed permanently.

While this is tragic news for anyone who lives in, works in, or even visits South Park, there are many ways to say goodbye tonight.

Wake at South Park Bridge   

The event begins at 6 p.m., one hour before the bridge is closed for good. Come enjoy free music and entertainment, wake-night specials at local restaurants and watch muralists transform the bridge into art.

Wake for the Bridge at Feedback Lounge

Starting at 6 p.m. stop in and help build a new South Park Bridge (think legos). Expect drink specials, themed music and a few surprises. City planners and politicians not welcome.

The 79-year-old South Park Bridge bridge, which crosses the Duwamish Waterway, connects the South Park and Georgetown neighborhoods in south Seattle. With nearly 20,000 vehicles crossing it each day, the South Park Bridge is an important freight corridor that links the manufacturing and industrial centers of Seattle with the rest of the region.
