South Park community to discuss local issues

The South Park Neighborhood Association is holding a community meeting from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight.

The meeting will be held at the Old Fire House, 8201 10th Ave. S., and all local residents are invited.

The following topics are included on the agenda:

  • New Solutions award of $5,400 from United Way to support the new Breakfast Program 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 am Sundays through Fridays at the Neighborhood Center.
  • Outreach award from the Department of Neighborhood for the Oct. 3 event
  • Adopt-A-Drain applications available as handouts
  • Bridge proposal update
  • Police Report - Update on Juan Colorado
  • Introductions of: Jane Appling new South Park Branch Library Manager and Ian Hallock, new South Park Community Center Coordinator
  • Flood and Storm Response - City of Seattle Departments of Public Utilities and Emergency Management
  • Air Emission Reductions proposal from the Environmental Protection Agency- including Lafarge, Environmental Protection Agency and maybe Puget Sound Clean Air Agency
  • Formation of Traffic Control subcommittee
  • Block Watch sign installation
  • Neighborhood Projects Fund - 8th Ave. S. project: curbs to stick out into traffic to slow traffic down in front of the Community Center.
